FIREFIGHTERS tackled a car blaze near Newmarket racecourse on Thursday afternoon.

One fire engine was scrambled to the incident close to Rowley Mile Racecourse around 4pm.

They used two hose reels to extinguish the fire, which had also spread to the road surface because of fuel leaking from the vehicle.
