Norfolk GP charged with serious sexual offences

A Norfolk GP has tonight been arrested and charged with serious sexual offences against girls.

Hugh Blaise O’Neill, 61, of Tasburgh, South Norfolk, has this evening been charged with two counts of rape and four counts of gross indecency against two victims both under the age of 16.

The two counts of rape relate to one victim with two gross indecency charges each per victim.

The alleged offences date to between the early 1990s and early 2000s and do not relate to his professional role.

However, he has been suspended from general practice by local NHS managers.

O’Neill has been remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. The charge follows advice from the East of England CPS.
