The man and woman were found walking through a farmer’s field on Absol Park Farm in North End, near Great Dunmow, at 3.30pm on Monday, October 21.

The 42-year-old male landowner verbally challenged the duo as they were trespassing on his property, but was met by a volley of abuse and was then threatened with violence

Investigating Officer, Pc Laura Williams, said: “The farmer was able to take a picture of the couple on his mobile after he had been grabbed by the man who then put a fist to his face with the obvious threat of harm. As he was doing so, the woman was encouraging him to hit him. We want to identify these two and obtain their account of the confrontation.”

The couple had been walking a large brown dog. The man is described as white and in his 50s.

Anyone with information in connection with this assault is urged to contact investigating officers at Chelmsford police station on 101.
