Easton and Otley College staff and students are celebrating after scooping awards at this week’s Royal Norfolk Show.

Vice principal Clive Bound was presented with the Richard Haddon Challenge Cup by HRH Prince Edward Earl of Wessex.

He said he was delighted to have received the educational award on behalf of the college.

Agricultural students from the college showed livestock in a variety of Holstein cattle classes.

They won best Holstein in the group of three category, first reserve in the pair category and came third in the senior Holstein event. Libby Eglington came second in the class 802 senior young handler competition.

Marshall Drew, who studies one day a week at the college on the EDGE agricultural apprentice scheme, won a community and industry involvement award for his work in helping to promote agriculture as a career to others in the region.

Floristry learner Hannah Jarvis won first prize in the F3 Congratulations class, where entrants were required to create an arrangement based around a 60th anniversary theme. And horticulture student Harry Dredd picked up a silver gilt for a garden design he created with his employer, Andrew Thacker.

“It was a fantastic show and we are always delighted to play our part. We were thrilled to pick up so many awards,” said college spokesperson John Nice.

The college teamed up with a variety of other businesses on its main stand and was supported by BQP and the EDGE apprenticeship scheme.
