District leaders have lauded the efforts of staff and volunteers in securing Green Flag status for a park.

Nicholas Everitt Park, in Oulton Broad, is among 1,476 parks and green spaces to receive a Green Flag Award from Keep Britain Tidy, recognising standards, maintenance and facilities.

Stephen Ardley, Waveney District Council deputy leader, said: “This award recognises and shows that local people are benefitting from a green space of the very highest quality.

“It’s a great honour for Nicholas Everitt Park and reflects the fantastic work that goes in to maintaining our green spaces.

“Enormous credit should go to Waveney Norse and the Friends of Nicholas Everitt Park for their unstinting efforts throughout the year.”

Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd said: “A Green Flag Award provides national recognition for all the parks managers, staff and volunteers who, through their dedication and hard work, have helped to create these fantastic places for everyone to enjoy.”
