Police launch fresh appeal after 52-year-old murdered in Colchester

Essex Police have urged witnesses to come forward after a 52-year-old man was found dead in a Colchester flat.

Detectives are continuing to question a 32-year-old man today, Sunday, August 26, in connection with a murder in Colchester.

The man was arrested on Saturday, August 25, and remains in custody today.

A spokesperson for the force said investigations were continuing, with a number of searches being conducted in the town.

Essex Police were called to a flat in Forest Road, near Penrice Close, at around 2.45pm on Wednesday, August 22, where a 52-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his back and chest.

The victim died at the scene and police subsequently launched a murder probe.

On Friday, August 24, a post-mortem examination was held and established the provisional cause of death to be from multiple stab wounds.

Formal identification is yet to take place.

DI Alan Pitcher, who is leading the investigation, is appealing for people with dash cam footage to get in touch with his team.

He said: “I’m specifically interesting in hearing from people who were in the Forest Road, Hawthorne Avenue and Avon Way areas of Greenstead, between 2am and 6am on Wednesday morning.

“I want to know if anyone saw anything suspicious and I’m especially keen to hear from someone who may have been driving in their area and has dash cam footage of their journey to get in touch with the team.”
