TRAVELLERS have reappeared at a borough council car park in the centre of Bury St Edmunds.
A spokeswoman for St Edmundsbury Borough Council said they arrived at the St Andrews car park on Sunday with about seven vans. She said they had also been there in November, adding that time they moved on without the need for a court order. She said they said they would be leaving on Sunday and if they did the council would not take any enforcement action.
Residents had complained to the environmental health department about noise and litter, she said, adding the team had visited the site. “We are monitoring the situation. In cases like this we make sure they have bin bags and we clear the waste so the impact is limited.”
She said a meeting had been arranged with the county council’s gypsy and traveller liaison officer in case they did not go on Sunday.
A traveller, who gave his name as Mr Delaney, said the four traveller families there did not leave any litter and their generators were not noisy. “We are looking for a piece of land to set up a proper site. We don’t want to do this. At the end of the day we don’t want to cause any problems and we don’t want anyone to cause us any problems.” He said they had been travelling around the county for the past couple of years looking for a site, adding the nearest permanent site was full.

It is the same family name as the ones who recently departed the Kingfisher carpark in Sudbury. They always claim to be wanting to buy a bit of land, do what we do then, go to an estate agent!

I reckon they are the group who spent a few weeks on a pay and display car park in Sudbury. Same reasons given then.

Ok this a simple one . Trvlers antto be raeted fairly if a normal road tax paying driver was to park in this car park for a week and display they would be fined every for no pay and display ticket. So if these travlers have no pa and diplay tickets fine them.
