A TOWN council is appealing for volunteer grit spreaders.
Sue Hindry, assistant town clerk at Bury St Edmunds Town Council, said currently there were only a small number of volunteers for some of their 87 grit bins.
Anyone wishing to volunteer in their ward should contact her with their name, address, email address and phone number.
She will then add them to their list of volunteers who are insured by Suffolk County Council.

Surely it would make sense for those on community service to be given the option to get their hours down by assisting in something much needed to ensure the safety of the public.
