Rail commuters are facing delays this evening because of a points failure at Witham.

Some lines have been blocked as a result of the incident and services running between London and Ipswich are being delayed as a result.

Among those services affected are the 5.38pm service from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich and the 5.50pm train from Liverpool Street to Norwich.

Work is currently taking place to fix the problem.

A Greater Anglia spokesman said: “We thank you for your patience and understanding whilst this problem is being fixed.”

The US musician, who performed at Ipswich’s Portman Road in 2005, has cancelled shows after Parkinson’s diagnosis.

A leading medic at the West Suffolk Hospital has given his backing to an appeal to raise £500,000 for a new cardiac unit at the site in Bury St Edmunds.

Quiz night at Seckford Golf Club raises more than £1,200 for Eve appeal for fighting cancer.

Essex’s new fire chief says she was ‘delighted and excited’ to be offered the role.

Teams are being sought for a charity challenge set to test their fitness and resourcefulness and at the same time raise money for a worthy cause.

The region’s ambulance trust, which is facing allegations of patient deaths due to delays, is to be the subject of a “risk summit”.
