The incident at a thatched property in The Green was attended by a crew from Wickhambrook and two from Bury St Edmunds along with the Aerial Platform Ladder and a support pump from Ipswich East.

Crews arrived at 7.48 to find the fire confined to a flue in an non-thatched area of the property.

The APL was not required and the crews used chimney rods, a thermal imaging camera and a 13.5m ladder to tackle the fire.

Firefighters remained at the scene until the fire was brought under control at 8.17.
