The “kind and pleasant” staff at an east Suffolk care home have celebrated the results of a recent inspection which found it was meeting standards in every area.
Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors awarded Rendlesham Care Centre the top grade in all five areas of care, including standards of staffing, safety and respect.
Home manager Jean-Claude Baya praised his staff’s team effort at the “state-of-the-art” facility on Suffolk Drive, which is part of the family-owned Caring Homes Group.
“The Caring Homes Group places residents’ needs and preferences at the heart of everything we do and there are many aspects of life at Rendlesham that have contributed to these positive results,” he said.
“I am extremely proud of my team for their commitment to providing and maintaining a high standard of support for this who live here and pleased to see their efforts recognised through our CQC report.”
Residents at the home, situated close to Rendlesham forest on the outskirts of the village, were quoted in the report as making favourable comment about their care.
“It is very good, we are all well looked after,” said one. “I am happy here, I did not know what to expect, but it is quite good,” said another.
The inspectors heard from residents that the staff were “all very kind, always pleasant”. “This was confirmed in what we saw during our inspection – staff interacted with people in a caring, respectful and professional manner,” the report said.
Checks on staff training logs, care records and the provision of medication were all found to be meeting standards during the unannounced inspection.
“However, we suggested areas for the provider to consider and develop this area of medicine management further to enhance safety,” the inspectors wrote.
The care home provides residential, nursing and dementia support for up to 60 elderly people. The family-run Caring Homes Group was founded in 1994 by mother and son Helena and Paul Jeffery.
