A funeral home has received a national award for its efforts to cut down on their use of plastics.

Rosedale Funeral Home, which has branches in Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth, has been working with florists and growers to spearhead a campaign aimed at using compostable materials in floral tributes.

As a result, The Good Funeral Guide has named them ‘Most Eco-Friendly Funeral Provider’ in its Good Funeral Awards 2018.

The award also recognises Rosedale’s ongoing focus on environmental issues, which has involved reducing their carbon footprint and working with families to support the concept of a carbon neutral funeral.

“Environmental issues impact on all areas of life,” said Anne Beckett-Allen, owner of Rosedale Funeral Home. “Families are increasingly asking for greener options which is why we offer a range of environmentally-friendly coffins.

“Extending this awareness to floral tributes was therefore a natural step and we plan to continue to re-evaluate every aspect of a funeral service.”
