Fire crews rescued a woman trapped in a storm drain

A 50-year-old woman became trapped in a 25ft storm drain in Essex last night.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to rescue the woman from the ditch in East Street, Safron Walden, at around 11.45pm.

A crew from Saffron Walden Fire Station used rescue lines to hoist the woman to safety about an hour later.
