A driver fractured his spine after a head-on crash in Santon Downham on Friday.

The man was taken to West Suffolk Hospital after his red Alfa Romeo collided head-on with a grey Vauxhall Vectra at around 8.20pm.

A section of the B1107 Thetford Road was closed for more than four hours after the crash about 50 metres from the exit for High Lodge on the Brandon side.

A collision investigation is underway and police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed either of the vehicles before or during the crash.

Witnesses are asked to contact PC Lee Orriss at the Bury St Edmunds Roads Policing and Firearms Operations Unit on 101.
