We all want the best for our children. So do Burston Primary and Tivetshall Primary Schools, who are focused on giving them an excellent grounding for life with their nurturing and innovative approach.
Personal development is key, with youngsters encouraged to take responsibility for their learning, all in a caring, family-like environment.
Both schools are part of the Sapientia Education Trust, founded by Wymondham College, which brings together like-minded schools, each with something unique to offer and delivering a world class education locally.
Burston Primary is a small community school where pupils are well known and cared for. The school’s facilities are being further enhanced with the addition of a new all-weather pitch courtesy of the Trust. A range of additional activities are provided including a Breakfast Club, Forest School and even the opportunity to learn Japanese.
Tivetshall Primary is smaller and provides a wide-ranging curriculum including the innovative use of Talk 4 Writing and Power Maths.
Small class sizes ensure personal attention, which builds confidence and enables pupils to make rapid progress. There is a large, well-stocked library and PE is a speciality.
Catering for four to 11 year olds, the teachers and support staffs’ focus is on personalised and individualised learning while constantly developing the Forest School curriculum.
“We’ve also just introduced Talk 4 Writing and we’ve bought in new reading resources which are really exciting and engaging.” said Kelly Stokes, Director of Primary Improvement for the Trust.
There is also wrap-around care from 8am-5.30pm as well as after school clubs where much of the learning takes place outdoors, which the children love. They get the chance to enjoy activities like pond-dipping and growing their own fruit and vegetables.
Before pupils start, parents are encouraged to take advantage of the induction days and visit both schools on a regular basis depending on their needs.
“We regularly invite them into the school for parent assemblies and to celebrate the work we do,” added Carol Green, executive headteacher.
Kelly added: “Because we have small class sizes we get to know the children and their families really well.”
There is also the opportunity to continue education in the Sapientia Education Trust family of schools at either Stradbroke High School or Old Buckenham High School and eventually move on to Wymondham College Sixth Form.
These schools are hidden gems that need to be seen.
There are chances to do just that with open days on November 1 and November 20 from 9.30am-10.30am at both schools.
The Sapientia Education Trust is also holding an Open Day Event at The Park Hotel, Diss, on October 12.
