The GCSE art show at Saxmundham Free School featured pieces created by year 10 students, as well as a selection of art by younger children and pictures by Benhall and Coldfair Green primary school pupils.

Work included sculpture, paintings, drawings and modern abstract inventions - all admired by art master Andrew Casey and visiting Halesworth sculptor Patrick Elder, whose own work has been displayed at the school.

It was the first GCSE art show at the school, which opened in place of the middle school in September 2012.

Staff member Merlyn Mitchell Cotts said: “Patrick Elder was very complimentary.

“He chose Angharad Evans’ portrait of a fellow student as his favourite piece and said he loved the depth of perception and how it was developed.”
