A TEENAGER has been arrested after “weaving in and out of traffic” on his push bike which caused a motorist to crash.
Police have arrested a 17-year-old, from Ipswich, on suspicion of causing danger to road users. He is being questioned at Martlesham police investigation centre.
The incident happened at around 9.40am in Shotley this morning. A driver was treated for shock following a single-vehicle collision.
Only minor damage to the vehicle was sustained and no injuries were reported.
A police spokesman said the teenager was “weaving in and out of traffic” on his push bike.
The spokesman confirmed a police helicopter was dispatched to assist with the incident.

Three things. 1) agree with chasing cyclists giving motorists a break! 2) guessing they got the helicopter involved in case the cyclist went off-road and 3) where the heck in Shotley did they find traffic at that time of morning?! It's not exactly chockablock like the one-way system round by the docks in town...

I have seen the helicopters used on high speed chases on tv and how good they are in helping the police catch speeding motorists.Knowing the Shotley road I am surprised a police car couldnt keep up with this speeding cyclist. I am glad our council taxes are being used for such important matters. At least chasing cyclists gives the motorists a bit of respite from the traffic cops.

I guess we should be thankful he was riding a bike and not driving a car. But at 17 years old I suppose we still have that to look forward to, if he can can get the insurance.
