Firefighters were called to Stanway this morning to extinguish a fire in a flat.

Two fire engines from Colchester and one from Tiptree attended Dale Close around 5.39am where the flat was 100 per cent alight.

Two hose reels and one main jet were used to extinguish the blaze by 6.33am.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and the police are investigating the cause of the fire.
