A man is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in a north Suffolk village in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened on the A140 at Stoke Ash at around 3am.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a Ford C-Max and the man, who is believed to have alighted another vehicle, on the northbound carriageway close to the White Horse pub.

Police and ambulance personnel attended the scene, where the 26-year-old was discovered to have sustained serious leg and head injuries.

He was initially taken to Ipswich Hospital and then later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The road was closed for a collision investigation to get underway and was reopened at 6.20am.
