Fire crews have rescued two people from flood water in Stoke by Nayland after a mobile phone call which cut off due to bad signal.
A pump and water team from Ipswich and another from Colchester were sent to the East Bergholt area last night after a caller with very bad signalled had dialled 999, though Fire Control were unable to hear the initial call.
A mapping system was used to locate the last known ‘cell site’ used by the caller’s mobile phone and one appliance was mobilised to the area of East Bergholt whilst control worked to try and pin point the address.
Through constant questioning via text, liason with other emergency services and with colleagues in Essex, the team managed to narrow the location from East Bergholt, to Nayland and eventually to Wick Road in Stoke By Nayland, where crews came across a single vehicle in flood water with two people inside.
The occupants were rescued and placed into the care of the ambulance service, all appliances were back at base by 8.14pm.
