A man is in hospital after firefighters cut him free from the wreckage of a two-vehicle accident in Suffolk.

Fire crews, paramedics and police were called to the scene of the crash on the A1120 in Stonham Aspal at around 2.30pm today.

Emergency crews had to use cutting equipment to gain access to one side of a Vauxhall Insignia to release a man in his 30s who was trapped.

He suffered back injuries “not thought be to be life-threatening”, an East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said.

Paramedics administered first aid on the scene before he was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment.

The other vehicle involved in the collision was a Vauxhall Astra.

No other injuries were reported.

Recovery of the car has been requested. The road is blocked in both directions.
