A Stowmarket bowls club will launch a new community project to encourage people to become more active at its forthcoming open day.
Stowmarket Rookery Bowls Club will be promoting active sport with a bowling theme through the project, working in partnership with other clubs and Everyone Active at the town’s leisure centre.
Sue Calver, health and wellbeing officer at Babergh/Mid Suffolk District Council, said: “Babergh/Mid Suffolk is delighted to have been asked to be involved in the setting up of the new Stowmarket Rookery Community Bowls club project, which will see a series of taster sessions in community settings for older people and schools in and around Stowmarket.
“Two new community sessions – open to all ages – in Stowmarket will also be set up, working in partnership with local bowls clubs and Everyone Active at Stowmarket Leisure Centre.
“This project will provide opportunities for older people, in particular, to become more active, maybe try something new and will bring the benefits of being able to be meet socially and stay connected which is excellent for our overall health and wellbeing.”
The Stowmarket Rookery Bowls Club open day will take place on Sunday, April 15, at the club’s base in Finborough Road from 2pm.
