POLICE are appealing for information after a taxi driver was assaulted on New Year’s Day.

Between 4am–4.30am the driver picked up two men in Stowmarket who asked to be taken to Haughley and dropped off near to the church.

When the taxi, a green Skoda Octavia, arried in Duke Street one of the men tried to get out and run off. The other then put his hands around the driver’s neck and threatened him.

One of the men are described as aged between 18-21. One was dressed in jeans and a white shirt and the other in a hooded top and joggers.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact PC Steven Duncan at the Stowmarket Response Team on 101 quoting ST/13/9 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
