An investigation is under way into the cause of a flat fire in Stowmarket.

Crews from Stowmarket and Needham Market were initially sent to the scene of the incident, in Semer Close, at about 11.45pm yesterday.

A crew from Elmswell was then called as a precaution because of the number of flats in the block.

The fire was contained to the living room of the flat and was brough under control by 12.07am.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said: “The cause of the fire is being investigated.”
