Plans for a 55-bedroom hotel part of a major new development in a Suffolk town have been put forward.

Retail Development Partnership has announced the plans for Prentice Road in Stowmarket.

The proposed development will bring forward a significant new mixed use scheme to provide riverside housing, together with a café, hotel and improvements to land on the eastern side of the River Gipping, lying between Wharfside House and Navigation

The proposed development will provide a total of 33 homes made up of 25 town houses, together with eight apartments, a 1,000 sq.ft café and a 55 bedroom hotel.

The residential development scheme is arranged in a courtyard around a central waterside amenity area. The development, together with its landscaping, which will retain the existing trees along the riverside, will make a major contribution towards the enhancement of this important part of the town centre, the developer has said.

The development scheme has been designed in order to comply with the council’s aspirations for the area, set out in the development brief for the Station Quarter and in the Stowmarket Area Action Plan.

Retail Development Partnership will shortly be submitting a planning application for the development to Mid Suffolk District Council.

  • There's nothing worth going to Stowmarket for! There are no decent shops. Shame the development couldn't be a lovely chainstore ...an ikea would be nice or marks & spencer or john Lewis clothes shop. Why put a cafe out of the town centre?
