A van has come off the road on the A12 at Blythburgh in Suffolk closing the road in both directions.

Suffolk police were called today at around 12pm to the single vehicle collision just south of the White Hart Inn.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said the collision involved a Renault Trafic van.

“The van had skidded off the road,” she said.

Police have closed the road in both directions while the driver is treated by the ambulance service.

Earlier today, a spokesman from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: “We were called just after midday to reports that a van had come off the road.

“A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew are on scene. “There is one patient, a man, who is reported to have chest pains.”

He added: “The patient was assessed at the scene, but did not require transport to hospital.

“We cleared from the scene by 1.20pm.”

A diversion has been put in place to guide traffic around the scene of the collision.
