Sudbury Carnival is just days away. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for carnival day.
It will take place on Sunday August 19 and this year’s theme is ‘countries of the world’.
It will kick off with a procession of floats through the town, starting this year from the Delphi Centre between noon and 12.30pm.
There will be entertainment and activities throughout the afternoon and evening in Belle Vue Park where the procession will end.
At the park there will be a raft of events with plenty of things for families to do.
All day activities include children’s rides, bouncy castles, Punch and Judy shows, displays, laser tag games and craft stalls. There is also live music.
Here is the running order for events at the park:
• 12:00 Lavenham Falconry
• 13:30 Music from Route 66
• 14:00 Speech from Sudbury Mayor, Sue Ayres
• 14:15 Carnival Queen’s court
• 14:45 Fancy dress
• 15:15 Music from Route 66
• 16:00 Belly dancing display
• 16:30 Lavenham Falconry Display
• 17:30 Music from Less Than Perfect (Acoustic Duo)
• 18:30 Music from Route 66
• 21:00 close
Refreshments will be served in the park throughout, including stalls selling treats such as donuts, fishfinger sandwiches, pizza, ice cream, candy floss plus tea and coffee.
Chairman of the carnival organising committee Angie Talbot said: “For a number of years Sudbury lost its carnival, but thanks to people like Jack Owen and a small team he brought together, the carnival is back and has grown in strength.
“It is going to be a great day, with plenty of room to sit and listen to the music and watch the events in the arena.”
