The owners of an animal charity have been left devastated by the theft of one of their bunnies.

Christian and Emily Hauth run Odie’s Warren for Rabbits in Sudbury and also provide animals for pets corner in Belle Vue Park.

But last Wednesday someone took Pebbles, a small, female, black dwarf-cross, from the rabbits’ pen in the park. The theft occurred sometime between midday and 5pm.

The alarm was raised by a park worker who found Pebbles was missing when they went to put the rabbits to bed at 5pm.

Now the husband and wife team have taken some of the rabbits away from the park because of concerns for the animals’ safety.

Although the police have been informed and a call put out for help to find the missing bunny Mr Hauth thinks it is highly unlikely they’ll see Pebbles again.

Mr Hauth said: “Obviously we’re shocked. I don’t understand the mentality of people who do it really.”

“It’s quite likely someone’s taken her to be a pet. Last time we had one stolen we had a good idea of who it was. But this time there’s nothing.

“We’re devastated. We do enjoy it (looking after the rabbits) but the last two weeks we’ve been wondering why we carry on.”
