A mission to nurture the potential Gainsboroughs of the future is in full swing at his birthplace.

Youngsters put their creative talents to the test yesterday at an Easter Bonnets & April Fools Hats workshop held at Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury.

It was the first of two school holiday sessions being organised by museum staff.

Rosemary Woodward from Gainsborough’s House said: “The idea is to get youngsters interested in art at an early age.

“The hat workshop offered a really fun way to get them involved.”

On April 14 and 15, youngsters are invited to help create a giant 3D futuristic map of Sudbury inspired by the 1714 Brewer’s map currently on display at the museum.

For details of any of the holiday or term time courses, call Gainsborough’s House on 01787 372958.
