Former and current staff and pupils at a Sudbury primary school came together for a special fete to mark its 50th birthday.

Woodhall Primary School, in Mayflower Way in the town, celebrated the landmark anniversary with attractions and a cake decorated in school colours, which was cut by town mayor Sue Ayres and headteacher Matthew Fuller.

Mr Fuller said: “We would like to thank everyone who joined us to celebrate Woodhall’s 50 years and make the anniversary of our wonderful school so memorable.

“Members of the school community, both past and present, had a lovely evening sharing stories and memories. Here’s to the next 50 years.”

Attractions at the special event included a display from the Phoenix Marchers, bouncy castles, a barbecue, a tombola, a fire engine, a petting zoo and face painting.

Woodhall Primary School became an academy on January 1 last year, joining the Samuel Ward Academy Trust.
