Sudbury: Super slimmer scoops national award after shedding 11 stone

10:00 07 January 2014

Archant

A Sudbury slimmer’s efforts to lose more than 11 stone have scooped her national recognition.

Nicky Pengelly was one of three women from around the country to be crowned Rosemary Conley Health Professional Slimmer of the Year after losing 11st 6lbs.

The 46-year-old nurse was handed her award and cash prize during a swanky ceremony in London which rewarded her years of hard work.

Having started training as a nurse in 2003, her weight reached almost 21 stone, and she had to get scrubs specially made when standard issue XXLs did not fit her.

However, after a patient told her she was getting bigger and bigger every time they saw her, Ms Pengelly vowed to take action.

She was introduced to the Rosemary Conley Health programme by her daughter-in-law and soon started to lose weight.

Ms Pengelly now weighs in at 10st 1lb and fits into a slim dress size 10/12.
