A free family fun day for carers across Suffolk is being held at Jimmy’s Farm this weekend.

The event, on Sunday, August 12, has been created by Suffolk Carers Matter and Fred Olsen Travel to host a day of activities for unpaid carers and their families.

Arts and crafts, science games, and face-painting are among the fun attractions alongside a range of holiday companies exhibiting.

Suffolk Carers Matter will also be filming their monthly ‘Carers TV’ which will feature a chat with Fred Olsen Travel and Jimmy’s Farm about how they each support family carers.

There will also be a local carer talking about their experiences and the regular feature of ‘Just Ask’ where Nick Pandolfi and Lucy Buckle will discuss questions Suffolk Carers Matter has received online.

Simon Brown, founder of Suffolk Carers Matter, said: “While there are national days and weeks for carers, we wanted to host a special day for carers and their families in and around Suffolk.”

“We want carers to know that they are truly valued and that whilst they are there for the person they care for, we are here for them”

“If carers have a question, a problem or a challenge, we want them to ‘Just Ask’ through the link on our website or speak with us in person.”

Sharon Ingle, retail marketing manager for Fred Olsen, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Suffolk Carers Matter for this special day which has attracted some of the top travel companies with exclusive offers on the day.

“All are welcome to come along and have some fun as well as trying a tasty bite from the field kitchen.”

Entrance for carers on the day is free and anyone who registers in advance – via www.suffolkcarersmatter.org.uk – will be able to gain entrance for an additional person at the reduced rate of £3.50.

Sunday’s event starts at 11am at Jimmy’s Farm in Ipswich. For more details visit www.jimmysfarm.com
