A long-range weather forecaster is predicting another bank holiday scorcher - which could see temperatures in Suffolk and Essex top 30C.

Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden said spring could end with another record-breaking bank holiday.

Temperatures across much of the UK’s southeastern regions reached into the mid 20s over the early May Bank Holiday – with a record breaking high of 28.7C recorded at RAF Northholt in west London by the Met Office.

Temperatures have dipped again in recent days, but Mr Madden has forecast a “predominantly summery” remainder of spring, culminating in a “burst of very warm to hot temperatures for the next bank holiday weekend”.

“It is plausible that maximum temperatures could rise into the high 20Cs or even the low 30Cs for several days in a row within this period,” he said.

“This will pave the way for a warm and settled start to summer.”

Long-range weather forecasts are notoriously difficult to predict with reliability. However, Mr Madden claims to have been the first to predict the last two heat-waves - and says third party weather models are now also starting to incorporate a “massive surge of heat” for later next week.

“As we had indicated in our much earlier mid to long range forecasts for this exact period,” he added.

Weatherquest’s Dan Holley said that as the bank holiday is 10-12 days away “it’s a bit early for speculating temperature values”.

“Broad theme looks like high pressure will be nearby, but the exact location of the high will play a key role as to whether we have a warm southerly flow, or a chilly northerly,” he added.

The Spring Bank Holiday is on Monday, May 28.

Temperatures in Suffolk and Essex are expected to peak around the mid-teens, with Weatherquest predicting highs or 16-17C in the east of the region.

It is expected to be a “dry and mainly sunny day”, Weatherquest tweeted this morning.
