The remnants of a tropical storm, which brought chaos to the US coast, is set to bring warm weather and blustery winds to Suffolk and Essex this week.

Forecasters at Norwich-based Weatherquest said that as Storm Helene moved back across the Atlantic into Ireland and Scotland, it would also pull warm air from the Bay of Biscay over East Anglia.

Weatherquest’s Chris Bell said that while this morning was expected to start cloudy with patchy drizzle in places, conditions were set to improve into the afternoon and become sunny.

Temperatures today are expected to be around 22-23C, while tomorrow they could reach highs of 25C.

Mr Bell said average temperatures for this time of year were around 19C but added it was no unusual for autumn to see warmer spells.

By Wednesday, Mr Bell said there was a small chance of showers “but it should not spoil the day too much”.

There is also likely to be blustery winds of up to 40mph, however these are likely to feel warm, as they will be coming from a southerly direction.
