FIVE schools in Suffolk are closed today because of the snowy and icy conditions gripping the county.

Suffolk County Council is reporting the following schools have closed: Palgrave Primary; Worlingham Primary; Mendham Primary; Bungay High School; and Somerleyton Primary.

Worlingham and Mendham were both closed because staff were unable to get into work.

Palgrave said it had shut its doors because roads around the school were dangerous.

Meanwhile Fressingfield Primary is open for children in the village, but children who arrive on public transport have been told to stay at home.
