The Green Party launched its campaign to try to win its first MEP in the East of England during a region-wide tour by leader Natalie Bennett this week.

She visited Cambridge for the regional launch before travelling to Bungay and Beccles in Suffolk and then catching a train back from the expanded rail station in that town to return to London.

In the last European elections, lead Green candidate Rupert Read came very close to getting one of the seats in the region. He is hoping to better that this time.

Second on the list for the party is Suffolk County Councillor – and parliamentary candidate for Ipswich – Mark Ereira-Guyer who are pictured with Ms Bennett at the Cambridge launch.

The party is hoping to attract votes by promoting policies for the “common good” around the region – not looking to achieve unsustainable economic growth.

  • Well as the Tories only care about further enriching the already rich, the LibDems under Clegg have lurched to the right and given up on most of their principles, Labour's full of war criminals and UKIP are a bunch of racist nutters, so realistically the Greens are the only party left for anybody who wants to see any progressive policies put in place. So I know where my vote's going.
