Police and highways officials were called to a Suffolk village on Monday evening after reports that a road had become flooded.
Officers were told that a “torrent of water” had moved from a field to a part of Thetford Road, Fakenham Magna, at about 9pm.
Efforts were made to remove the water but warning signs have been put in place for motorists, who are being advised to avoid the area.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: “It is purely down to the volume of rainfall and the field is saturated.”
