Social media can be a daunting landscape, with dozens of sites and apps clamouring for superiority.

Some among us choose to shun it entirely, while other embrace it as a way of life.

We’ve compiled a rundown of just some bloggers, tweeters and instagramers, with local ties and huge online audiences. If you want to know how to do it right, these are good places to start.

There’s no room on this list for those better known for something else – so we’ve left out journalists, politicians, commentators, athletes, organisations and big businesses.
