The prince was keen to hear about the work done by the Young Farmers for Forage Aid, which this year has been raising money for farmers affected by the floods in Somerset.

Chairman of the Suffolk Young Farmers, Ed Binder, said: “He wanted to spend some time with younger people, getting to know the younger generation and getting to know the people who are going into agriculture, and it was really refreshing to see how much he knew about farming.

“It was great that he had such good knowledge of what we were going on about. It was really refreshing, he was a down to earth, really nice chap.”

Angharad Bendall said: “It was a real pleasure to have the opportunity to meet a royal. It’s so nice to see he’s got a genuine interest in what we’re doing and has knowledge of it as well.”

John Dickson described the experience as “brilliant”, adding: “He’s a really down to earth chap; he seemed to have a good understanding of agriculture.

“There’s a photograph of the three of these guys together plus a video of Ed Binder speaking.”
