A driver walked away from their smashed and overturned car with minor injuries after crashing overnight in Suffolk.

The Norfolk and Suffolk Roads Policing and Firearms Unit attended the scene with the car flipped on its side and severely damaged at the front.

Despite the damage to the vehicle, the driver left the scene with little harm to themselves.

Police thanked the nearby community for their efforts with the cleanup operation and for the cups of tea they were provided with as they worked through the night.

The force tweeted: “This driver was lucky to escape with minor injuries tonight after losing control.

Thank you to those who stopped to help clear up, the neighbours for the cup of tea and the off duty Suffolk fire officer who was first on scene.

“We appreciate it.”
