What’s your favourite thing to do in Suffolk? Where do you go, what do you do, to really enjoy yourself, have fun with the family, or maybe just cheer yourself up? Do you have a location, or a venue, which is extra special to you?

Of course, here in beautiful Suffolk, we’re spoiled for choice, aren’t we? The county is blessed with so many wonderful places to visit, choosing just one favourite is really difficult – but that’s exactly what we’re asking you to do!

We’ve joined forces with the Mark Murphy Show on BBC Radio Suffolk to ask our readers and listeners to help us to compile a list of “50 Things To Do In Suffolk”.

We want you to tell us about your favourite things - and why you love them so much. It might simply be a lovely walk, or a beautiful view. Maybe there is a particular historic building you love to visit, or perhaps a sporting venue.

As a starter for ten - and without trying to influence you - here are my two favourites. As some of you already know, one of my favourite places in Suffolk is my home town of Framlingham.

For me, it’s very special, full of atmosphere and personal memories. I just love walking through the Market Hill, maybe grabbing a coffee, and then meandering up to the castle and looking across the meare to my old school, Framlingham College. That view - and the one looking back from the College to the castle - is my favourite in Suffolk.

Another special thing for me is the walk between Thorpeness and Aldeburgh.

I park in Thorpeness, and walk along the beach to Aldeburgh - nodding to Maggi Hambling’s Scallop on the way. Then, after a quick wander around Aldeburgh, and a coffee, I make my way back to Thorpeness. It’s a great way to get some gentle exercise, blow away the cobwebs, and get some thinking time as well.

Like me, Mark Murphy is a Suffolk boy, born and bred, and it’s a fact that sometimes we don’t always appreciate the many wonders that our home county has.

As Mark says:” I’m always amazed when we have visitors come and stay with us just how much there is to show them right here in Suffolk. So I’m really pleased that we are going to work with the East Anglian Daily Times to find the top 50 things to do in Suffolk. I’m sure we’ll get hundreds of suggestions but it’s the less well known things I’m looking to hearing about.”

So, let us know you favourite things to do in Suffolk, by clicking here. We will feature them in the coming weeks before compiling the Top 50. We look forward to hearing from you!
