The emergency services in Suffolk and Essex received hundreds of weather-related calls last night as strong winds and heavy rains caused major problems across the region.
Suffolk police announced that they received 150 weather-related calls, most of which related to falling trees.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called about more than 90 weather-related incidents.
Among these was a roof being ripped off a home by winds in Purfleet, south Essex.
A spokesman for the service said: “Up until midnight crews were called to incidents involving trees, structures and damage caused by the high winds and after midnight the Service was called to mostly water related incidents which including flooding on the roads and in people’s homes.”
