A Suffolk man has died after the car he was driving collided with the central reservation on the A12 in Essex.

The crash happened between junctions 16 and 15 at Galleywood, shortly before 2pm on Friday.

Police said that the driver of a silver Hyundai – a man in his 70s from Suffolk – appeared to have fallen ill at the wheel before colliding with the central reservation.

He was treated at the scene by ambulance crews but died. The man’s identity is expected to be made public following permission from the coroner.
