Suffolk highways engineers have cleared over 150 of Suffolk roads of debris and fallen trees.

Workers are still out clearing routes and expect to have all-but one-reported road blockage cleared by midnight.

Problems remain at:

· Hollow Lane, Chelmondiston - power cables across road. UK Power Networks due to remove later this evening.

· West Street, Walsham-Le-Willows - power cables across road. UK Power Networks due to remove later this evening.

· Wickham Road, Thwaite - BT cables across road. BT due to remove later this evening.

· Church Street, Worlingworth - Large tree across road. Expected to be removed later this evening.

Numerous fallen trees are also blocking the road at Glevering Bridge, Wickham Market. There will be a short diversion in place until the trees have been cleared.

Councillor Graham Newman, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for roads and transport, said: “I’d like to congratulate our area highways staff and colleagues at Keir MG for reacting so quickly today.

“With over 150 reported incidents, they’ve worked non stop, and will be doing so into the evening, to make sure Suffolk’s roads are safe, and open for Christmas day.”
