Suffolk: Police warning over burglary increase

15:31 07 February 2013

POLICE are urging homewowners to contact them with information following an increase in burglaries over the last week.

More than 40 house burglaries have been recorded over the past seven days and officers are appealing for the public to give them information.

Detective Chief Inspector Bernie Morgan said: “We have been working extremely hard to tackle this type of crime through Operation Drawbridge and have been carrying out pro-active operations across the county to target offenders and to disrupt criminals who choose to commit these crimes.

“Our operations are producing results but we need the help of our communities to give us any information that could help us in catching offenders and stopping them from entering people’s homes. No matter how minor you think the detail is, it could be crucial in helping us trace those responsible.

“The people committing these crimes are not invisible and I would urge members of the public to report suspicious activity immediately by ringing 999.”

Anyone with information regarding house burglaries should phone police on 101.
