POLICE negotiators are at a Norfolk property where a “hostile” man had barricaded himself inside.

Officers were initially called to Blake Court, off the Brandon Road in Swaffham, at about 7.20pm following reports of a suspected theft.

But after entering the property to make an arrest, police were forced to withdraw after a 24-year-old man became hostile.

The man then barricaded himself inside and extra officers and police negotiators were called.

At 10.30pm, the incident remained ongoing but a Norfolk Police spokesman said: “No one else is believed to be inside the property and there is no current threat to the public.”

The road has been cordoned off “in the interests of safety”.

A fire crew from Swaffham and the ambulance service were also called to the scene to assist officers.

Did you go to primary school in Suffolk in the 1970s, long before earphones and an iPad were standard schoolbag kit?

Three acts with Suffolk or Essex connections have made it through to the live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Cameras could be used in the fight against the fly-tippers whose anti-social behaviour is said to be “blighting” north east Essex and costing taxpayers thousands of pounds.

Strictly favourites Natalie Lowe&Ian Waite had the Ipswich Regent buzzing with fun, energy&laughter when they brought their Somewhere In Time tour to town last night.

Real or fake? That’s the question Ipswich crowds may be asking when they turn out for a festival formed entirely of tribute acts.

Volunteer lifesavers were called to rescue a yacht in difficulty off the Essex coast yesterday.

Could you open your home to one of these cats and dogs looking for new homes at the Blue Cross centre in Wherstead?
