Two people have been made homeless after a house was destroyed by fire last night.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a house fire in High Street, Thorpe-le-Soken, just before 9.45pm.
Two fire appliances were sent to the scene and found a fire in a two-storey property measuring 10m x 10m and that the whole of the property was alight and heavily smoke logged.
The incident commander requested a two further pumps and an aerial ladder platform at 10.25pm.
No casualties were reported but two people living at the property were made homeless and have been taken in by neighbours.
The Red Cross fire support unit provided welfare support.
By 12.30am, the crews reported that the blaze was surrounded and was being brought under control and that overhead power lines have been isolated.
The flames were extinguished by 4.25am.
Firefighters remain on scene this morning turning over and damping down.
