Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station on the Suffolk coast has issued an appeal for witnesses after it was broken into, causing damage which will cost thousands to repair.
A post from the RNLI Aldeburgh Facebook page showed pictures of the centre with a smashed window, with kitchen cupboards and desk drawers having been raided and some damage to the walls.
The break-in took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Facebook post on Wednesday night said: “Unfortunately Aldeburgh Lifeboat Station was broken into overnight.
“Not much stolen but they have caused a few thousand pounds worth of damage.
“If anyone heard or saw anything no matter how small please call Suffolk Police on 101.”
It is not yet clear what was taken from inside or how much the items were worth.
Volunteers have asked anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information which might help police in their investigation to contact 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
