Rail passengers faced disruption to journeys in and out of London after a person was hit by a train on Sunday afternoon.

All services travelling via Witham were cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes following the incident shortly after lunchtime.

The disruption affected journeys from Liverpool Street to Ipswich, Colchester and Norwich.

The line was eventually reopened by 4.30pm and services returned to normal during the early evening.
