Travel: Warning for motorists following collisions on icy roads

Police are advising motorists to take extra care this morning as freezing overnight temperatures have caused problems on roads in Suffolk.

Between 7am and 8.30am today, police have had 14 collisions reported to them.

This has included an incident involving one vehicle on the A12 near Corton which collided with the central reservation at about 6am. This is still causing delays on the southbound carriageway.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said: “Generally speaking, there have been a few collisions and the roads have been icy.”

The Orwell Bridge is now expected to remain open on Thursday after the threat of high winds overnight eased.
